Congratulations to our past students on these recent achievements:

  • Newspaper prize Second prize in the prestigious Independent On Sunday/Bradt Guides travel writing competition has been won by Neil Matthews, who has never been published before. He joins a regular band of past students to score in this compeititon: last year the first prize was won by Travellers' Tales veteran Louise Heal (pictured far right, with competition judge and guidebook pioneer Hilary Bradt).

  • International prize Julian Love won the worldwide Travel Photographer Of The Year competition, and has been accepted by the John Warburton-Lee Picture Library.

  • Book trip Daniel Cooper is in Taos, New Mexico, researching his first travel book.

  • American paper Merle Minda is now on her third assignment for Minneapolis' main daily paper, the Star Tribune.

  • UK magazine Lucy Beresford has had her fourth travel article published in The Spectator, and Sue Watt has had her first accepted by Travel Africa. Claire Boobyer and Nick Boulos have both had features published in Wanderlust magazine this spring.

  • Photo competition Kate Malone was a Highly Commended finalist in Wanderlust magazine's annual travel photography competition.

  • Writing competition Taffeta Bourke was short-listed for BBC Wildlife's Young Environmental Journalist.
